Driven

What makes someone driven? What does it mean to be ambitious? Whenever I hear someone use these words to describe me, while it is flattering, it's somewhat unexpected and almost comical. To be honest, my personality is far from matching that of your ideal productive and ambitious individual: I avoid simple and mundane tasks as much as possible, paying attention to fine details is incredibly difficult for me, any sort of daily routine is torturous, I am known to move and talk really slowly, and the mere mention of food often distracts me from work. Essentially, I'm the best example of someone who will never become a successful accountant or banker, and that's okay. It's not that I am lazy or slow, it's that I have a different path in life which I am meant to follow.

"The evolving soul is not made divine by what it does, but by what it strives to do."
 ― Gary Tonge

"Our ambition should be to rule ourselves, the true kingdom for each one of us; and true progress is to know more, and be more, and to do more."
― Oscar Wilde

“All people dream, but not equally.
Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their mind, wake in the
morning to find that it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous
people, For they dream their dreams with open eyes, And make them come
true.”
― D.H. Lawrence

Being incredibly structured and task oriented is not the end-all, be-all of being driven and successful.  Being driven stems from a deep passion and desire within one's self for something great. Success stems from creating goals in order to attain that which is desired and being focused on meeting them. Stop asking yourself irrelevant questions such as, "How can I make a lot of money?", "What am I talented at?", or "Why aren't I good at this?". The only question you need to ask yourself is "What do I want from this world and how do I get it?". Ambition is not a character trait which some of us are born with, but a fire with in everyone's soul that is ignited only by the pursuit of the greatest version of one's self.
